Band arithmetic enables new pixel values to be generated by using arithmetic operations between pixel intensity values of an image in a specific band and corresponding pixel intensity values in a second band. New images obtained by applying arithmetic operations between bands may lead to new findings and comments. Ratio is a method widely used in arithmetic operations. New image obtained by band arithmetic operations is called the ratio image.
New images with better visual interpretation can be obtained by changing properties of the original images with arithmetic operations applied between bands (mixed, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
In Band Arithmetic operation, new formulas (?) can be defined by using current arithmetic functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percent, maximum, minimum, etc.) or ready formulas and operations in the formula library (band addition, band subtraction, NDVI, OSAVI, SAVI etc.) can be used.
Formulas consisting of arithmetic functions applied between the bands (add, subtract, mixed, etc.). The users may also create formulas and use them.
D1 band to be used in the formula is selected. The band selected is not important in single band data but it is important in multispectral images (red, green, blue).
