Calculate Volume

By selecting the volume calculation method, volume calculation can be made from prismatic or cross sections. To make volume calculations, the excavation plan surfaces (triangular model) must first be produced. After the method, parameter and surface selection, the operation is completed. The report file consists of the directory where the project file is saved in Excel format.

It is the volume calculation method based on solid model between two surfaces.

TCK Method

Application Distance

Application distance is calculated with TM = [K/(K+D)] x L formula for excavation and TM= [D/(K+D)] x L formula for filling. L value is the distance between two sections.

Zone

It is excavation and filling area on basis of section.

Volume

If both sections are excavated or filled, (A1+A2)*L/2 formula is applied. 

In case of transition from excavation to fill or from fill to excavation, the transition formula is applied.

[ A1 + A2 + Square Root ( A1 * A2 ) ] * L / 3

Application Distance

It is the distance between two sections.

Zone

It is excavation and filling area on basis of section.

Volume

The specified volume is applied in all cases.

( A1 + A2 ) * L / 2

DSI Method

It is the calculated distance. 

Calculation continues as; 

( Kilometer of 2nd Section - Kilometer of 1st Section ) / 2 

 (Kilometer of 3rd Section - Kilometer of 1st Section ) / 2 

 (Kilometer of 4th Section - Kilometer of 2nd Section ) / 2 

 (Kilometer of 5th Section - Kilometer of 3rd Section ) / 2. 

At last kilometers, it finishes as; 

Kilometer of ( n - 1)th section  - kilometer of ( n -3 )th section  / 2 

Kilometer of ( n )th section - Kilometer of ( n - 2 )th section / 2 

Kilometer of ( n )th section - Kilometer of ( n - 1 )th section / 2

Zone

It is excavation and filling area on basis of section.

Volume

( A1 + A2 ) * L / 2 formula is applied in all cases.

Back Fill Calculation

Icon

The limit to which subtract surface is applied for the backfill calculation can be used by applying the following steps.

  • Volume Calculation is entered.
  • Limit to which subtract surface is applied is selected as limit.
  • In the surfaces tab, the application surface and the fill elevation are selected as the fixed elevation.
